Own your share of the future internet

Blockstack is building a user owned internet. We believe in a future where the ownership rights you enjoy in the physical world extend to the digital world—an internet where everyone can participate in value creation.

The Stacks 2.0 blockchain is our master design (launching Q2 2020), and the foundation of a new digital ecosystem that allows all of us to participate as owners.

Introducing the Proof of Transfer consensus algorithm

If adopted, expected Summer 2020

We’re proposing the use of PoX in the new Stacks 2.0 blockchain. PoX harnesses the power of Bitcoin and enables everyone to access the properties that make it so secure. Bitcoin is the ultimate trust machine, and king of proof-of-work.

PoX allows the Stacks 2.0 Blockchain to (1) reap the security benefits of Bitcoin, (2) possibly reward Stacks (STX) holders for contributing to the network, (3) offer secure, predictable Clarity Smart Contracts and more expressive features without modifying Bitcoin’s core protocol, and (4) allows any project to spin up their own blockchain that has the security properties of Bitcoin.

STX: the native token of the Blockstack ecosystem

STX are consumed when apps interact with Clarity smart contracts and users register blockchain-based names across hundreds of Blockstack apps. These apps provide user owned identity, data, and digital money giving users freedom, safety, and power. Learn more about using Clarity and STX in your app.
